In the fanclub's December update, we sent him an email from a fan that said that Mel Brooks told him that Matthew ran away as a kid to join a circus. We also sent an email that stated that someone saw Matthew at Disney Land. Below is his reply, as well as a Christmas Greetings to his fanclub, and all of his wonderful and loyal fans!! Enjoy everyone.

Thank you so much for the e cards and emails, as far as the Mel Brooks story. It's true .
Sometimes when I auditon I will go in as the character, this is very rare. 
This can go two ways one........he's brilliant, two........I'm lead away in handcuffs. This time went well, because Mel likes to improv and play, this little story was created.  I think I did some sort of physical stuff in my auditon and Mel asked how I learned how to do all that stuff . So I said I was raised by a wild pack of circus clowns and the hardest part of integrating back into society was toning down my makeup.  So when I was on set Carey Elwes, in passing said something about me being from the circus. I found out later Mel told people he found me in the circus.

As far as me down in florida I'm not sure that was me, but sometimes I have few drinks and I end up in stranger places than that.
